Rule Differences for 7 on 7 Lacrosse
1)
There
are 7 players on field: a goalie, 2 defencemen, 2 midfielders, and 2 attack.
As a result, different offside rules will obviously apply.
2) The nets are still the standard 6 feet by 6 feet.
3) Games will be two 20-minute halves, with a 5-minute break at
halftime.
4) Unless there is more than a 3-goal difference, the last 3 minutes
of the second half should be stop time.
5) There is a face-off after each goal, except for the Four-goal Rule (see below).
6) Four-goal Rule – if, upon the scoring of a goal, a team now leads by four goals or more, there is no center face-off. Instead, the team that was scored upon receives possession of the ball at center, with the usual restrictions of wing lines and restraining lines in place. This rule applies as long as one team is behind by at least four (4) goals.
7) Each team is allowed to use big sticks, but they are limited
to 3 instead of 4.
8) Field size is 40 yards wide by 80 yards long - five yards are
removed from each zone, behind the net, from the goal line to restraining
line, and from the restraining line to the centerline.
9) Goalkeepers are not required to serve their own fouls - these
can be served by the In-Home.
10) Each team is allowed one 90-second time-out per half.
11) Body contact on loose balls, slashes and cross-checks should be called more strictly in the Under-10 division.
